Project Description
The French Wafer Fab Company needed a product display case in their Visitors’ Lobby for their official opening. We went into the lobby, assessed the context and the workflow of the space, and proposed an unusual display device that integrated with existing interior architecture of the space. We essentially made use of 2 highly conspicuous columns that flank the Reception Counter, and turned them into display features. We studied the wafer fabrication process and proposed to use sand as a display medium at the base, and `float’ the wafers to describe the narrative of the manufacturing process. Our idea was so well received that the clients played up the narrative by bringing in part of an ingot to be displayed on the sand base. Upon completion, it became almost difficult to locate the 2 columns.
