Semi-Detached House off Bedok Road, Singapore
A semi-detached house designed to accommodate 3 related families consisting of 3 generations, and with the capacity to hold 3 simultaneous and separate gatherings when required. Primary communal living spaces were organised at the double-volume ground level rear of the house to take advantage of the elevated, unblocked vantage towards a public canal, and we designed the naturally lit inter-connecting and circulation spaces as a spatial relief to celebrate the daily rituals of movement and family interaction inside what would otherwise be a densely packed house within the envelope control parameters of the planning authorities.
