Project Description

Black & White Heritage Bungalow at Orange Grove Road, Singapore

The 2-storey heritage bungalow has deteriorated over the several decades and as well seen some renovations over the years, which did not always quite complement the beauty of this classic piece of historical architecture. The key architectural intervention to the main house would be sensitive repair and restoration of original elements and the removal or replacement of elements that did not appear to have fared well against the unique architectural backdrop.

A new single-storey garden pavilion, low-key, streamlined and modernist in expression acts as a subtle counterpoint to the grandeur of the existing house, and dialogues with the undulating terrain and mature trees in its natural surroundings. Landscaping well associated with idyllic tropical gardens is carefully curated and strategically introduced to create a sumptuous garden for the house.

The primary phase of the project – the restoration of the Black & White House – is scheduled for completion in Oct ’24.
