Project Description
Residence at Leedon Park, SingaporeBHNA was engaged to design a new landscape to set off the Good-Class Bungalow that had just been given a contemporary total interior makeover.
The primary exterior spaces of the large home in a linear site with impoing adjacent features required thoughtful and sensitive handing of views, ambience and organisation in order to choreograph, layer and craft each of them into beautiful, purposeful and enjoyable gardens. Highly ornamental shrubs and strategically placed sculptural objects were employed to give a welcoming character and bring focus to the spacious entrance motor court. The central courtyard garden was transformed with soft and hardscaping into a tranquil, intimately proportioned and comfortable external space not unlike the courtyard of a traditional Chinese house, and is vsually connected through the glazed Living Room to the expansive Pool Garden, framed with classic tropical landscaping and terminated with a lush Gazebo Garden as the ultimate backdrop. Interplay of light and shade, enclosure and openness as well as sculptural and space-defining elements bring visual delight and experiential enjoyment to the environment, be it when viewed at or physically immensed within.
