Project Description
The side of this end terrace house faces west, and in order to protect its occupants from the unbearable western tropical sun, we designed a triple volume lattice screened Garden Lounge which is contiguous with a lushly planted side garden as a sunlight filter for the rest of the indoor spaces.
After opening the front door expecting to step into the house interior, one is instead greeted by this exhilarating volume that runs along the full-length of the house, washed with soft, filtered light coming through either the latticework or the foliage of the trees. The 1st storey (ground floor) Kitchen Diner opens out into this 5-metre wide Garden Lounge while a timber extension from the Living Room on the 2nd storey projects as a vantage point into this volume. On the 3rd storey, a 12.5m Swimming Pool and its Pool Decks overlook this breath-taking space.
